Useful Apps for Tablets

Useful Apps that we use in KS1 include:

ScratchJr - This is what we use a lot for coding in the Infants. It is a simple version of the Scratch website that is used in KS2. This can be downloaded on both Apple and Android tablets

Puppet Pals 2 - This app can be used to create simple stories using the onscreen puppets.

Lego Movie Maker - This app uses stop motion technology (how Wallace and Gromit is made) to create films. We have used this in both Computing lessons and English lessons.

Book Creator - Children can use this app to create their own books. They can illustrate their books and then can either write their story or orally compose their own story.

Bee Bot - This is useful for instructions and for coding. This is used in conjunction with the Bee-Bots we own in school.

Daisy the Dino - This app is a very simple coding app for the EYFS children.

Minecraft - This app can be used for lots of different subjects, we have used it in RE to create Easter gardens and it has been used in Geography to show the water cycle. We always go into creative mode when building in school and ensure that the WiFi is disabled whilst playing on it.

Toca Band - We use this app in Music lessons to create different compositions.

Hopscotch - This is another coding app that is similar to Scratch but using monsters as characters

Elmo Loves 123's - This is used by the EYFS children to help with numbers 1-20

Power Lines - This app is mainly used by the Year 2 children to help with their addition.
