Class Two
Welcome to Class Two's page. There are 28 children in our class ranging from Year 2 to 4. Our teacher's are Mr Attkins and Miss Dowling. Our teacher's describe us as polite, enthusiastic and hard-working. Take a look at our page and see what we have been learning about!
Roman V Celt mock battle
Using our knowledge of the Roman and the Celts we held a mock battle based on the battle of Colchester. Queen Boudicca led the Celt people and Suetonius led the Roman soldiers to battle. It was so much fun!
World Book Day
Dewa Roman Experience Trip
We visited the Dewa Roman Experience in Chester. We began our day as Roman soldiers marching through Chester chanting in Latin. We visited some Roman gardens and the remains of a Roman amphitheatre. We learnt how a Roman soldier would have prepared for battle. Later we enjoyed learning about Roman baths and our fantastic host has us laughing all day long!
Hadrian's Wall
Continuing our learning on the Romans, we have been finding out about why the Roman's built a giant wall called Hadrian's Wall. We found out what life was like for Roman soldiers living at Hadrian's Wall. We then split into 3 groups. Group 1 put together and painted a jigsaw of Britannia. Group 2 made 3D Roman soldiers linked to their learning in Maths. Group 3 used lego to build Hadrian's Wall. We then came together to create our finished product and discuss what we now know about Hadrian's Wall.
Roman burgers and Roman wine
We have been learning about Roman life and have enjoyed finding out what the Romans would have enjoyed to eat and drink. Here you can see us making and eating Roman burgers and Roman wine from scratch.
Celt Roundhouses
This term we're learning about the Romans. To begin this new topic we have been learning about what Briton was like before the Roman's invaded and settled in Britain. We have been learning about the Celts and finding out about the homes they lived in. Here you can see we have built our own Celt Roundhouses which are now proudly displayed in our classroom.
Christmas Performance
Please have a watch of our Christmas videos below. We have been practising these lots and lots!
Christmas jumper day and Christmas party
We enjoyed celebrating Christmas jumper day and we had a brilliant time at our Christmas disco playing games with our friends and dancing all afternoon!
Chester Zoo
We were lucky enough to visit Chester Zoo. We enjoyed seeing all the different animals and find out about their natural habitats.
Space Day
Today we completed lots of fun activities whilst we were dressed up in our space theme. We learned about how big each planet is in relation to each other and we also learned how far apart they are in relative terms. We were shocked to find out that the first 3 planets are quite close together but the rest of the planets are very far apart!
Non Chronological Reports
Today we were really excited when a letter from a local library appeared in our class asking us to write a book about the different explorers that we have been learning about in class. They also sent us lots of information books for us to look at so that we knew all of the different features of an information book.
Science - shadows
Today we created tin foil models to look at shadows. We also learned what the terms transparent, translucent and opaque mean. We learned that the shadow was formed because the tin foil was opaque and so no light could pass through it.
Science - Disco in the dark
Today in Science we had a disco in the dark! We had lots of fun dancing and talking about the different light sources in class (especially the glow sticks!). We played a game where the children had to collect the coloured paper from the floor in the dark. Once we had finished we found out that the lighter coloured paper had been collected first and the darker ones had been collected last. We discussed that this happened because the lighter colours were easier to see as they absorbed less less and reflected more of it.
Science - Introduction to light and shadow
Today we started our Science unit called 'Light and Shadow'. We had fun exploring all of the different objects in class to look at how light passed through them or reflected on them. We explored different lighting conditions as well to see if this affected what we saw.
The Pirates Next Door Role Play
In class we have been reading 'The Pirates Next Door' in our English lessons. Today we had fun acting out the scene where the residents of Dull-on-Sea complain to the Council Office that the pirates need to be removed from the town. We tried really hard with our facial expressions and body language so that they copied the characters in the book.
